Here is a rigid case lined with leather and with cork jointed wooden plugs, which allows you to transport a flute, but you can also use this type of case for a bow, for example.
It is made with a PVC shell and lined with sewn and glued leather.
The leather is a reclaimed upholstery leather.
The plugs are turned out of camellia wood.
The finished case :
Hard case lined with leather.
Top cap, corked.

The bottom cap is fixed by two brass nails.
Sewing.
How it is made :
Pvc tube diameter 40mm, outline of the joint line
Cut a rectangle of leather to the dimensions of the tube.
Preparation of the seam joint: punching holes.
Gluing with neoprene glue about 3/4 of the circumference.
The border under the seam is not glued
Leather application.
The joint should just close.
The area under the seam will be held together with double-sided tape.
Leave the yellow band in place for now.
Start sewing at the end, and pull the yellow band as the sewing progresses.
The stitch is similar to cross-lacing shoes.
Ensure the regularity of the stitch.
Rolling the seam (to sink the thread in the thickness of the leather)
Wood lathe: turning corks.
Friction polish finish on the lathe.
A groove is provided to accommodate the cork strip.
Bevel on cork strip.
Gluing with neoprene glue.
Gluing completed by covering the bevel.
It remains to be trimmed.
Sandpaper finish. Still needs a little joint grease.
Brown colored wax.
Leather balm.
